Laser Periodontal Therapy™
PerioLase MVP-7 Dental Laser
The PerioLase® from Millennium Dental Technologies is the first and only laser designed with the needs of the periodontal patient in mind. This Nd:YAG laser is equipped with all the unique features necessary to perform Laser Periodontal Therapy™. It has a full complement of new soft tissue laser treatment options. Manufactured by Millennium Dental Technologies, the PerioLase® is not only the first laser in dentistry to utilize digital technology for enhanced performance and reliability, but is also built on the world’s most widely used dental laser platform. While early dental lasers were very limited in what they could do, The PerioLase® can now be used effectively to reach down into the pockets to help eliminate inflamed tissue and destroy pathogenic bacteria.
LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) :
Laser Periodontal Therapy™
The FDA-Approved and patented LANAP laser therapy is a pocket reduction procedure that reduces pockets by establishing a new connective tissue attachment to the tooth at a coronal level. This is a minimally invasive periodontal procedure like no other. In most instances, treatment with the LANAP laser eliminates the need for conventional cut and suture periodontal surgery, also referred to as flap and osseous surgery.

This procedure is a "no cutting-no stitching" surgical procedure. It begins with the periodontal probe measuring excessive pocket depth. Then the laser is used to remove diseased tissue and debris found underneath the gum within the pocket. Disease causing bacteria are killed, leaving a sterile environment.
Ultrasonic scalers and special hand instruments are used to clean and smooth the root surface. The laser is then used a second time to further clean under the gum and to aid in coagulation or clot formation. This clot acts like a bandage around the teeth to help promote rapid healing and new gum formation around the teeth.

EzLase Dental Laser

There are many lasers which are all very effective at what they do. Dr. Wiland has a different laser for different applications and procedures. The ezlase is a soft tissue diode laser. The "diode" refers to the type of laser, or its source of power. The "soft tissue" refers to what the laser is designed to work on. The ezlase is designed for various dental applications which involve, but are not limited to, recontouring gum tissue (works very well around erupting wisdom teeth), frenectomies, removal of soft tissue "lumps", and decreasing healing time and recurrence of cold sores.
